Visual Art – Winnipeg

Hello, my name is Hamza Mustapha and I am a self taught artist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After graduating with a bachelors degree in physics, I started working full time in building sciences where I continue to work as a research coordinator. It wasn’t until I started illustrating my thoughts in my spare time that led me down this artistic path. More specifically, it was a returning thought during my undergrad studies, what if Einstein painted his 1905 papers instead of writing them? Could a mathematical theory still be understood on canvas than written in an article? How is it, that somewhere in this vast universe a sum of fundamental particles had enough energy to coalesce to create the Chauvet Cave to Starry Night. Over the last few years I’ve read and study art in many forms to better understand techniques, theories and the process behind why humans create art. I love illustrating my imagination when thinking about the universe we live in. From the magical bloom of a lotus flower to the mysterious beginnings of spacetime. Our subconscious minds creep out and lift the soul from the harsh moments we encounter from the everyday struggles and contradictions we constantly live, the lies we are told as children and the abuse we endure from society. The search in the unknown is what makes us human, and art has helped me illustrate my questions about life.
