Olamide Adedipe

Visual Art – Calgary

Olamide Adedipe is a trained fine artist, environmentalist, and craftsperson who uses sustainability as a strong platform to speak against the abuse of nature and to inspire social change. Olamide’s journey in art began after he lost a significant percentage of his hearing due to auditory pollution. The stigma of constantly asking people to speak louder or repeat a sentence was a constant struggle he faced. At some point in his career, he found an animal fatally injured by poachers. Knowing there was no other option, he was forced to act compassionately to ease the animal's suffering. Olamide used this moment of pain to convey a strong message through his art by painting on the animal’s pelt, which swiftly transformed into a movement advocating against animal cruelty. He creates mixed media art, and paintings, using found items.
